Intravital 2-Photon Microscopy

The direct visualization of dynamic behaviors of immune cells in living tissue has dramatically increased our understanding of how immune cells interact with each other and with their environment. Newly developed, genetically encoded reporter systems allow the examination of molecular mechanisms during these cellular interactions in vivo. Intravital 2-photon microscopy has therefore become a critical technology for understanding how cells of the immune system navigate through tissues, recognize potential threats and deploy their effector functions.
